Re.Pub.Lk, or Republik as we know it, is one of Colombo’s hottest nightlife venues right now and a personal Friday night pre-game favourite. Recently, the venue made a move in the daytime direction introducing a lunch menu most likely targeted at the Executives who work in and around the commercial Hub of Colombo. For all intents and purposes, Re.Pub.Lk now serves up a mean lunch menu that should be tried out for anyone scavenging the lunch options in Colombo. 

Fish and Chips
A great choice for someone on a diet or a preference for a light Rice-free lunch, the Fish and Chips at Re.Pub.Lk comes well done with a killer Tartar variety of their own making. Again, very reasonably priced and perhaps one of the best choices in the lunch menu.

Seafood Fried Rice 
If there was any doubt whether a side dish was required for the Beef Nasi, I imagine a side dish is a requisite for the Seafood Fried Rice. The dish itself is great within its capacity and blends perfectly with a number of side dish varieties available on the menu. 

Nutella Churros 
Although far from being the traditional take on Churros, the dessert dish is a chocolatey treat for anyone with a sweet tooth or a dessert craving. The Nutella Churros stand among my favourite dessert items at present and does a world of good in the dessert department what with its cream dip and rich Nutella stuffing. A must-try if you ask me. 

Pan Fried Prawns
Due to my choice of company these days, much of my ordering is Seafood based lately and the tendency was a blessing in disguise as far as lunching at Re.Pub.Lk went. The Pan Fried Prawns is a great complementary dish for the rice based staples or even as an appetiser. The dish comes with a great dip and bursts with flavour owed to a spice based garnish the Prawns seem to be pan fried in. 

Beef Nasi Goreng 
I’d imagine a Beef Nasi is an oddity, given that Nasi is traditionally served up with Seafood, but as far as taste goes, this one does the Nasi legacy justice. Although the dish comes topped with a Fried Egg and is decently priced, I consider a side dish of a meat variety to be a requirement. All in all, a great lunch choice and a reasonable one at a pricing of Rs. 400/- - Rs. 450/-.

Momos
The Momos are dumplings that come in one of two varieties – Curry Chicken and Mushroom. If you make a visit for lunch in the immediate future you might be able to get a few free of charge for the trade-off of checking in to the venue on Facebook, which is how I got mine. 
The Dumplings themselves are great appetisers and certainly carry the novelty of having Dumplings for lunch on a work-day. 

Hot Butter Cuttlefish
If you haven't had the chance encounter with the Hot Butter Cuttlefish at Re.Pub.Lk on a night out, this is a great time to try it out as an appetiser or a side dish. The Hot Butter Cuttlefish comes in two variants of spicy and sweet and my personal recommendation is that the sweet variant is true for the money. 

Outside of the food itself, lunching at Re.Pub.Lk I imagine is a great change of scene on a workday. Anyone with a flexible enough lunch hour can even set up work-station there and get some work done. The ambience really is the key to lunching here and I recommend it for anyone looking for a little aesthetic value and a menu of goodies for lunch.
