'Yahapalanaya' - how is it doing, so far? Are the people too impatient about the pace of the new government or are things moving too fast? There's the good as well as the not so good. The youth have a great responsibility for this country as they are the future leaders. Some would disagree with this ‘rapid phase of change’ yet others would say that this is the ‘way to go.’ Bearing this in mind, the Daily Mirror Life listened to some young voices to know their ideas about how they have grasped the pace of ‘Yahapalanaya...'
Harsha
“Yahapalanaya is way better than what we had earlier. Actually they have given what people had hoped and this is what we wanted to see. They helped reduce the price of goods and as promised, President Sirisena has assisted even those at lowest positions to stand up on their feet.”
Pinsara
“The pace at which this new government is moving is quite good. They were able to walk the talk and because of this people might say that there’s a rapid phase of change. As promised they abolished executive powers and have started to file charges against the corrupt politicians of the past regime. This is what we had wanted.”
Chakila
“There are two sides to it. During the past regime there was a lot of corruption but now they are trying to put these politicians behind bars. Yet even in this government there were certain things which could not be accepted like for example the Central Bank bond issue.”
Pasindu
“The new government is better than the last one. Even the media has more freedom to write what they want and there is a lot of information open to the public which would have otherwise been hidden as a result of favouring corruption.”
Apsara
“Many things happened yet they were able to walk the talk. I believe that even if certain things were not included in the 100 day programme these leaders have managed to fulfil their promises. Way to go ‘Yahapalanaya’.”
