Every day, we are swimming in a sea of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) produced by electrical appliances, power lines, wiring in buildings, and a slew of other technologies that are part of modern life. Technology in the 21st century has made it easier for people to get along with their day-to-day lives while we expose ourselves to an invisible killer. One particular threat arises from EMR emitted by mobile phones mainly through the handsets and from the tower-based antennas carrying the signals. Studies have linked this EMR to development of brain tumours, genetic damage and other exposure-related conditions. Realizing the fact that many Sri Lankans have the habit of staying glued to their phones, the Daily Mirror Life spoke to a few individuals to listen to their side of the story.
