Sale of drugs to school children 

Children are always nurtured according to culturally accepted norms and traditions. Traditional beliefs and norms exist in abundance since Sri Lanka belongs to the Asian continent. However, parents today are entrapped in busy lifestyles and due to this reason many children are often neglected at some point of the day. This negligence gives rise to insecurity and when children feel insecure they cannot be controlled. The aftermath of negligence can prove to be quite worse when looking at today’s society. An emerging issue due to negligence is that school children have fallen prey to drug kingpins. Understanding the fact that many more school children will fall prey to this menace, the Daily Mirror Life spoke to a few individuals to listen to their opinions.

It’s a crime to sell drugs to children. Children are the future leaders of the world and when they pulled in to trouble like this their whole life will be at stake.

It’s high time for all authorities to take stern action on this menace. On the other hand parents also have a role to play in it. The more the children feel neglected in the home front, the more they will engage in these kinds of illicit activities.

Parents are not the only party that should be blamed. Senior students in schools sometimes engage in activities like ragging and due to this the juniors have a tendency to fall prey in order to get rid of being embarrassed. Therefore teachers should be made aware of this situation since they fall prey while in school.

Parents and teachers both should be aware of this situation. Sometimes it’s a matter of the age. Children like to try out new things and since people selling these products know how to attract children, many children get caught in their traps.
