Deciding on a future career is a big decision for a young person. Especially in the case of creatively talented ones, the choice becomes even more difficult with the push towards choosing traditional careers that are commonly perceived as more successful, compared to a career in design. However, this popular notion of design being a lesser career is no longer relevant with the most powerful industries in Sri Lanka and the rest of the world embracing design as the newest ‘money-maker’ for business. Designers are now in high demand by businesses and ‘Design’ is now recognised among the most sought-after career paths offering stable jobs, financial security and personal satisfaction.
To shed light on design careers, the opportunities that they present and the pathways to get there, AOD is hosting ‘Design Sense’. The event presents an exciting line-up of free events to educate the general public on the design careers and opportunities available in Sri Lanka and abroad. This includes a mini runway, design exhibitions, video screenings, career guidance and workshops by international design professionals. These free workshops include trend prediction, 3D modeling for animation, fashion photography, blockbuster animation VFX behind-the-scenes, magazine design, essentials of packaging design, lighting design for interiors and much more. All events are designed not only to provide information, but also to give a first-hand experience of studying and working as a designer.
Interior design is another career sector explored in depth at AOD Design Sense
