10 Moments That Made Your Heart Skip A Beat!
Times you almost died!
When your phone isn’t where it should be.
This gets me every time! Suddenly when you check your pockets or your hand bag or wherever you thought you kept your phone last and it’s no longer there you get a mini heart attack. You panic so much that you can’t even look for it. (Sigh… this is what technology has done to us).
When you pay via card and it takes ages to process.
You immediately think that you don’t have enough money in your account. (It takes a while for you to realise that it’s impossible) It gets even more embarrassing when you have a long que behind you. When it finally does come through you want to jump celebrating… but of course you don’t.
When the train or bus conductor asks to see your ticket and you can’t find it.
You swear you put it in your bag pocket but it’s not there! You end up pulling out all the stuff in you handbag to find it while they watch and there isn’t anything more embarrassing than that. The worst part is when you panic you begin to look guilty of not buying the ticket at all.
When you drop your keys and almost lose them.
I am the kind of person who drops things a lot. (Yes I am clumsy) When you drop anything valuable near a drain or a sinkhole and it doesn’t fall in. I can’t even describe that feeling. You feel so grateful that you swear you will be more careful the next time... Yet you find yourself in a similar situation in a couple of days.
When you step on the accelerator instead of the brake.
If you have good reflexes you may be able to save yourself. But if you are not a good driver to begin with (which is probably why you find yourself in these situations) then you are in deep trouble. In the process you may have increased the traffic that is already terrible and everyone who drives past you will give you the look.
When you haven’t saved your work and you get the annoying Microsoft message.
I can’t count the number of times this has happened to me in the middle of assignments. If you are among the lucky few your document may have saved automatically. If not you are back to square one and you have to begin your 3000 word essay all over again!
When you leave after an exam and people start sharing answers that you didn’t write.
We are famous for it. As far as I can remember every time an exam is over, no matter how important it was you would run to your friends to discuss answers. The moment you realise that your answers are completely different to theirs, you immediately begin to pray for a miracle.
When you sleep through your alarm.
When the alarm goes off and you hit the snooze button and try to get 5 more minutes of sleep and suddenly you wake up and almost immediately realise that you have hit cancelled and over slept for almost an hour. This is the worst start to your day. You begin to rush through your morning routine and pray to God to stop the time.
When you think there is an extra step and miss it.
This happens especially with wooden staircases. You think there is an extra step but end landing heavily because there wasn’t one. It can also happen the other way around where you don’t see a step where there is one. And you involuntarily make an expression that everyone around also knows what just happened.
When someone opens the toilet door that you thought was locked.
When you are peacefully getting on with finishing your business and suddenly someone tries to open the door! It a reflex that we jump up to stop them. They don’t do it on purpose but you immediately get mad at them for catching you at such a vulnerable moment. Coming out of the stall afterwards and seeing them can also be very embarrassing.
