Today on WTF, I visit the one and only Koluu and his cozy hangout 'Ginger'. It's a small place that offers a mix of Asian flavours, especifically some nice curry dishes, and I love the portions for they can satisfy you and leave you full. The space is cozy with warm yellow and floral prints on the cushions.
It took some time for us to start the shoot, as the kitchen needed some time to settle and begin, but when you find Koluu there – you don’t fell the time fly by. He sat just at the end and enjoyed his evening soup as we waited for our dishes to arrive.
As always, I took Koluu's advice on what to order. I started my night with an avocado juice, “yum yum”. We then started our food session with the Avocado and Cauliflower Salad.
Then a must try - the Baked Crab! It melts in your mouth, flaked crab meat cooked in a cheese sauce and served with garlic toast and green salad. Another pick was the Portuguese style seafood rice, such a joy to try it as it is a signature dish by Koluu which is prepared with fish, prawn and cuttlefish in some rich tomato sauce.
And the winner for the night and a favourite amongst a lot was the Mutton Pol Kiri Badung which was served with turmeric rice. The mutton curry was cooked perfectly with a good balance of spices and seasoning, and I'm not even a fan of mutton.
All in all, if you want to enjoy a fulfilling meal, Ginger is the place. Parking is easy and the location is very Colombo friendly. If you visit them at night, the outdoor setting is lovely.
Finish off your meal with a dessert off the dessert cupboard. Koluu's desserts are definitely worth the calories!
