Today on WTF, due to popular demand and many emails we received - we took our cameras out to see Christmas in Colombo. The lights and the blinks which add so much to what Christmas is all about over here!
Our first stop was at the Arcade Independence Square, where the Christmas décor and happenings are made possible by HSBC and for many weeks we have kept it alive here with Lite87 joining in the celebrations. The nights were packed with photographs by Jonathan’s, fireworks , digital Christmas stories on the walls, and so much more, and the giant Christmas tree is a MUST to see.
Our next stop was at Park Street Mews, and this little place is decked up well for the season - so full of jolly things - love the tree and the lights on the top to make Park Street a more seasonal place, and when I was about to leave I met up with my favourite VOICE Umaria - looking beautiful as always and then she joined me on the journey around Colombo to look at more lights.
I asked Umaria how Christmas is for her and she replied "I don't celebrate, but my hubby does, and so I’ll be joining the whole family to make it special!"
Our next stop was at the Cinnamon Grand, and Christmas is truly a spectacular sight there! I love the effort and the blue touch to the season and every object that's hung on the tree has so much of character and it's a place you MUST visit! Too good to let it go!
Umaria added "I love Christmas so much that I surprised Devshan my hubby with a tiny tree all decked up for him, and asked him to put the star on top, as I couldn't reach it."
Finally we visited the Hilton Colombo, with its interesting décor full of recycled plastic cups, bringing more meaning to the season. Love it! Do drive by to see it.
