This week on WTF, I took a bold step! I went on a mission to find what's there to buy “on the go” when you need a sugar fix. Working in the entertainment field is not great because eating and nibbling on things during work has to happen to keep the creativity in you running.
So one fine day, I made a walk to the store to get something fancy to enjoy, and what I ended up having made me get inspired to do this segment on WTF today. I have chosen 6 such options out there in the market that can give you a quick sweet fix, and with a different twist. I did a taste test, and after trying some of it, I'm so happy to be alive.
Option 1 - Shan Jelly Yogurt
Priced at Rs. 40
This is a great pick, and I'm you will enjoy it. It's what we will like in a dessert cup, some jelly and some yogurt. I sure enjoyed it!
Manufactured by Shan Lanka Dairies
Score - 9 /10
Option 2 - Milki Custard and Jelly
Priced at Rs. 35
It's a disaster to be tried! I guess I gave up on life after trying to pass it down my mouth.
Manufactured by - Not so clear (I guess they want to be undercover)
Score - 0 /10
Option 3 - Dessert Watalappan
Priced at Rs. 40
Loved it! Got the authentic smell you will get with a homemade watalappan, although they robbed the “D” from Disney!
Manufactured by Dessert Products, Malwatta Godakawela
Score - 8 /10
Option 4 - Milki Watalappan
Priced at Rs. 40
It will never be my first choice. Although it was a taste that I can handle, it clearly missed out on keeping the true flavour of watalappan flavour. It was more of a combination of a pudding and a cake.
Manufactured by - Not so clear
Score - 4/10
Option 5 - Lucky Yoghurt with Treacle
Priced at Rs. 40
Loved it! Was a great combination. If I had a banana to go with it, it would have made life so great. I loved that the treacle was given on the side and even that was of a good quality. Remember to keep the yoghurt closed until you take the treacle out of the tape pasted to the cup.
Manufactured by - Lucky
Score – 9/10
Option 6 - Lucky Chogurt (chocolate yoghurt)
Priced at Rs. 45
It's Rs. 5 more than most of the options in the market, but it's not that great. Mixing chocolate and yoghurt did not go too well for me, but I’m sure you might like it. Nonetheless, it's a well done product.
Manufactured by - Lucky
Score - 5/10
So these were my 6 picks, and my favourites were Shan Jelly Yogurt / Dessert Watalappan and Lucky Yoghurt with Treacle. And I will leave Lucky Chogurt (chocolate yoghurt) just in the middle!
When I was in school I loved the time I get with my “Ice Palang” down my lane after getting down from the bus, but today there are the cooler options.
