As WTF takes this month to feature the greatest city hotels, we picked the new kid on the block - Mövenpick Hotel Colombo to introduce to you.
As you enter the hotel right at the entryway a heavy breeze hits you square. I felt like Marilyn Monroe walking in, in my LOVI Ceylon sarong. The interior I will say, is interesting with its modern fusion, that kind of goes well with the city hotel concept.
My two night stay started off with dinner at the Brasserie, where chef Dinesh Perera made us indulge in Poached Lobster Salad and grass-fed Australian Lamb.

Dessert was a party on a plate: it was a melting chocolate sphere with wild cherry, complete with compote and hot chocolate sauce. It was a remarkable experience!
The ambience of the hotel is brisk, clean and straightforward and it brings in a lot of daylight. You can choose between one of two views that of the city or the sea.
City hotels are now known for their rooftops. The Mövenpick Hotel’s claim to rooftop glory is the Vistas Rooftop Bar and Lounge, where you get to raise your glass several floors up. The Vistas is known for their beautiful infinity pool and the chemistry they create out of their cocktails.

Dinner on day 2 was at the Robata Grill and Lounge. This restaurant is dedicated to Japanese cuisine, where the head chef Noboru Ozeki treated us to a mouthwatering range of sushi, sashimi, tempura and the perfect miso soup.
The Flaming Station is an action station designed to give you a peak behind the curtain of some your favourite meat dishes.
My stay ended with Sunday Brunch, which was also in celebration of Mother's Day. The spread was humongous! Mövenpick will provide a busy traveller with all the comforts of 5 star luxury with the expediency and diligence expected of a city hotel.
