This week on WTF we started a new feature, as Colombo is getting busy with all coffee shops we thought of doing a series of coffee shops all around Colombo! We started our journey at this place called Coffee & Company. As the name suggests, it is all about good coffee and treasured company.
I spoke to the man who is taking this brand forward, Dilshan Fernando. He says “This is an entity that seeks to serve the community in and around Colombo”, which is a bit different and I think it’s a great idea, being located in the heart of the city. Amidst the hustle and bustle of Colpetty, it is tucked away in a truly perfect hideaway location to cherish delightful times, on your own or with friends. Apart from coffee they offer delightful teas, both hot and cold, along with fresh juices and their signature chocolatey shakes for the more adventurous!
I tried two of the most popular drinks on the menu:
Chocolate Mocha Haven at Rs. 740/
This is a crowd favourite; I found it a bit too heavy for my liking!
Iced Caramel Macchiato at Rs. 450/-
This was refreshing, but they do awesome coffee, it’s a combination of Italian and Sri Lankan and the blend is just fine so I was asked by Dilshan to try it.
The Café Latte at Rs. 450/- is something coffee lovers will absolutely enjoy.
Having been open for just over a month, Coffee & Company is a beautiful colonial styled coffeehouse open 7 days of the week from 11AM to 11PM, serving delicious food and scrumptious desserts. All day eats range from snacks, pastas, sandwiches to soups, along with weekend specials being introduced from time to time.
I must they have nailed it with the food. Everything was just great apart from the chicken which needs a bit more work, although the potion is big!
Bruschetta with Tomato & Basil at Rs. 400/-.
Pasta with Chicken and Mushroom at Rs. 650/-.
Pol Sambol with Cheese Melts at Rs. 270/-.
Grilled Chicken with Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce at Rs. 750/-.
With soft music playing in the background that compliments its cozy interior ambiance; which is different to other places as it's gospel music you hear. This place is also funding many projects that Dilshan is working on with this church. Outdoor lovers can find comfort among their rather inviting al fresco setting which makes it the perfect wind-down zone. Amidst the cool evening breeze, the outdoor seating provides the perfect spot to sip a coffee with a book at hand, or just hang out with friends for a cozy tête-à-tête. The availability of WiFi makes it even more irresistible!
The main vision behind Coffee & Company is to serve every guest with passion and love in whatever beverage or food that is being served. Coffee & Company also believes in supporting upcoming home businesses, provide employment to young entrants into the hospitality industry along with supporting other projects that bless the lives of children and facilitate the restoration of families.
As you know I’m such a sweet lover and I needed to see what was on the menu for that, and I was just left speechless as Thilini de Visser who handles people like me wanted me to to try these two dishes and I’m telling you I was hooked!
Fire and Ice at Rs. 450/-.
Brownie and Ice Cream at Rs. 450/-. It's priced perfectly and its something I'll go back for.
So whether you have already visited, or intend to visit; the experience of peaceful tranquility that awaits all guests who walk into Coffee & Company; truly makes it a coffeehouse with a difference.
