Veteran director Thusitha de Silva who has mesmerised small screen audiences with superior tele creations like Paramitha, Therani Geethaya, Punaragamanya, Uththamavi,  Kinnara Damanaya and others, is now ready to bring another powerful tele drama titled ‘Yakada Doli’.

Yakada Doli scripted by Sarath Dharmasiri depicts how one unfortunate incident in the life of a woman could trigger a chain reaction which affects her entire life span.

This is the story of Jayanthi who suddenly loses her soldier husband. As the legal beneficiary, she receives the compensation from the Army, but the victim’s not so well-to-do family also expects the money. In a bid to escape from her in-laws, Jayanthi sneaks out of the village with her daughter and moves to a town where she lives with a friend.

 

 

 

But the story of Jayanthi really begins from this point. Her relationship with Pradeep later develops into a serious one which eventually leaves her helpless. But after decades of heartbreak, catastrophes start haunting her when she learns about her daughter’s involvement with a middle-aged man. The story is filled with mystery and suspense – which are unique characteristics in award-winning director Thusitha de Silva’s creations.

Young actress Sarala Kariyawasam who played little Chuyia in Deepa Mehta’s award-winning movie ‘Water’ way back in 2006, is making a comeback after a lapse of some seven years in ‘Yakada Doli’.

The 40-episode tele drama produced by Vasanthi Chathurani features herself together with Bimal Jayakody, Priyanka Samaraweera, Sarala Kariyawasam, Giriraj Kaushalya, D. B. Gangodathenna, Gamini Hettiarachchi, Nayana Hettiarachchi, Seetha Kumari, G. R. Perera, Rinsley Weeraratne and Kusum Renu in the pivotal roles.

Thisara Thulwan has handled the camera and Bathiya Dunusinghe the editing. The tele drama is almost in the final stages now.
