Artist Vimukthi Sahan’s paintings will be featured from the 10th to the 12th of August at the Lionel Wendt from 8am to 8pm, showcasing Sahan’s very first solo collection.

Sahan, a graduate from the University of Visual & Performing Arts, derives his inspiration from his surroundings, as abstract as they may be. His paintings tell a vivid and imaginative story as he’s set to take you on a journey through the process of his drawing styles.

From painting landscapes to a fixation on faces, his current inspiration stems from viewing works of his role model, David Hockney, who is known to have popularized what is known as “non-perspective art” and is an important contributor to the pop art movement of the 1960s.

He is also considered to be one of the most influential British artists of the twentieth century. Non-perspective art, characterizes most of Sahan’s work, and will be on dominant display at the exhibition.

With the “Triangle”, Sahan hopes to encourage fellow artists to believe in their work and turn exhibitions alone into a livelihood, so that no parting with their masterpieces would be necessary.

Driven by passion, Sahan’s work is truly novelistic, comprising a new chapter in every stroke.
