The author of The Devil Wears Prada has confirmed that she is penning a sequel to the 2003 best-seller.

Lauren Weisberger has announced that she is set to publish Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns in April 2013, 10 years after the first novel was released.

The Devil Wears Prada was the inspiration for the 2006 film of the same name which starred Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, the omnipotent editor-in-chief of the fictional fashion magazine Runway , and Anne Hathaway as her downtrodden assistant, Andrea 'Andy' Sachs.

The sequel will revisit Andy eight years on from her soul-destroying, life-altering Runway experience, and now the editor of The Plunge , America's biggest bridal magazine, according to Entertaiment Weekly . Surprisingly, Andy is now working alongside Emily - her former nemesis at Runway - and the pair are great friends, and she is in the midst of planning her own wedding to Max, a media mogul. As the title suggests, a return from Miranda Priestly is a certainty.

Weisberger was a one-time second assistant to Anna Wintour at US Vogue , leading to assumptions that the novel is based on her time there and speculation that the character of Priestly shared many of the traits of Wintour herself, although she has never confirmed this.

As yet there is no news on a possible movie sequel, although demand will undoubtedly be high. The last saw cameos from the likes of Gisele Bündchen, Heidi Klum and Valentino so the prospect is certainly an exciting one.
