Rolinson Ferdinando, founder member, composer , singer, and lead guitarist of the La Bambas from Moratuwa, is doing himself and his country proud in Canada in the music field.

Rolinson, a former treasurer of the Moratuwa Arts Forum, is enjoying a long holiday in Toronto ,Canada, in the company of his son Rasitha and his family. He has been in Toronto for the past seven months and, according to reports coming our way, he is very much in demand in the community where he resides.

In his previous visit to Canada in 2008, Rolinson and his family members organised a sing-along concert , titled "Me Saumya Raththriye". Due to numerous  requests by his fans & friends  in Canada, yet another sing along show was organized titled "Me Saumya Rathriye 2" on the 29th of October 2011 at Rouge River Community Centre, Markham, Ontario. This show too  bonded and brought a huge Sri Lankan community together once again.

"Me Saumya Rathriye 2" was an outstanding success, with the packed house of Sri Lankans along with the Canadian invitees singing & enjoying themselves thoroughly. A distinguished personality in the audience happened to be the Sri Lankan Consul General in Canada, Mr. Karunaratna Paranawithana.

The music arrangements were made by Rolinson who performed on  keyboards at the show while Rolinson's  son Rasitha Ferdinando performed on guitar and concert flute, Kavinda Janith Weerasekera  played thabla & percussions. Rolinson had also conducted the music orchestra for the premiere sing-along show "Gayamu Edaa Gee'  organised by the "Moratuwa Arts Forum" (MAF) in 2000 and he is probably the first and  only local musician to conduct a Sri Lankan sing-along musical concert  in Canada.

"Me saumya Raththriye 2" was organized, sponsored, and presented by Dr. Morrel Fonseka and his wife Kumudu,  Asantha (son), Prasadi (daughter), Rasitha Ferdinando and Rolinson's wife Pushpa.. Sound equipment, mixing and lighting were provided by Rohan Jeinudeen and Sudham Illamperuma, both  music loving  Sri Lankans domiciled   in Toronto.

Rolinson is expected to performed at many more Sri Lankan functions in Toronto , Canada before returning  back  to Sri Lanka in April this year.
