Sandakada Pahana – the musical show of veteran vocalist, Sunil Edirisinghe, will take place on 9th June, 2012 ( Saturday) at 6.30 p.m. at the auditorium of Bishop’s College, Colombo 7.

This programme is organized by the Cancer Care Association (CCA) which is a charity organization engaged in helping cancer patients in many respects. The proceeds of this show will be utilized for the completion of the second phase of the Hospice already built at Kurundakulama, Anuradhapura.

In 2011 November, the CCA completed building of a Hospice at a cost of Rupees Six Million in Kurundakulama, Anuradhapura, solely through fund raising from the general public.

The purpose of building a Hospice was to support cancer patients not needing active treatment with palliative care (terminally ill patients), but those who need symptomatic treatment. It was the only Hospice available in outstation and pioneered to build by a charity organization for the first time in the history of Sri Lanka.

This Hospice has 26 bedding capacities. A sum of rupees one hundred and fifty thousand is required for a month for maintenance of this hospice. The cost of the second stage of the erection of the Hospice is around rupees 1.5 million. “Please join in supporting cancer patients’, invites Dr. Samadhi Wishvanath Rajapaksa, the President of CCA.
