The Creative Arts Foundation, headed by Mr. Jith Peiris, is set to take local audiences on a journey down memory lane with their latest production, “Champagne Toast”.

 

The theatrical affair which will encompass a variety of music, song, and dance from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s will feature renditions of timeless classics, as told by the most aspiring musicians Sri Lanka has to offer.

 

Mr. Peiris further added that the foundation, inaugurated by His Excellency the late former President J.R. Jayawardane, places emphasis on panning the limelight at talented performers who truly deserve it, consequently allowing them that all important exposure.

 

In keeping with his word the show brings together a very gifted cast of young performers. Highlight acts planned for the night include an array of exciting names. Raising curtains with her vibrant presence will be Roshani, seducing audiences with a top-hat-tap Broadway act followed closely by  “Audacity”, an appropriately named, seldom seen all female ensemble tipped to bring to life a hint of the late king of pop’s magic on the local stage.

 

The night will progress with such acts as Trudy, performing “Cabaret”, a familiar tune that still reverberates in the ears of the discerning fan, and the choral group “Vocal Enigma” performing the golden dance melodies of Abba, a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

 

In sheer contrast, the stage will also be overtaken by the unmatched operatic vocals of Dhanushi and Gehan, bringing in to play that much needed of variety through their soulful renditions of “Ave Maria” and “The Barber of Seville”  

 

Audiences will also have the rare opportunity of witnessing the award-winning choral group "Chorocalibre" which won Silver and Bronze at the choral festival in Thailand, performing alongside "Waka Waka”, the ensemble whose dance and music won them as many hearts as they did international awards.

 

The Broadway tunes belted pit by the much loved "Menaka" Children's Choir will be one among many garnishing acts on offer at theevent. The nostalgic reminiscences of yesteryear will take form, reincarnated by Nimali, Sahani, Nashali and Malshi who are to bring onto stage the magic of music of the 90's. Romancing the house with her encore performance of "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me”, Trudy will make way for the jazzed up instrumental interludes and the magnificent finale by Shenelle. What better line up for a Champagne toast to leave a lingering memory?

 

"Champagne Toast" by The Creative Arts Foundation will take stage at the British School Auditorium on Saturday 15th of September. Tickets are priced at Rs.2000, Rs.1500, Rs.1000, and Rs.600 (Balcony), and will be available at the venue from the 05th of September.
