Veteran musician Ananda Perera who has contributed immensely for the welfare of Sri Lankan music, will be showered upon with loads of love and gratitude by his fellow music world personalities on July 27 – at a time when he badly needs such moral and financial support.

An organising committee headed by popular singer Keerthi Pasqual and comprising music personalities like Navaratne Gamage, Bulitha Pradeep Kumara, Kumara Liyanage, Sisira Amarabandu, H. M. Jayawardana,, Mahinda Bandara, Jayantha Rathnayake, Chandrasena Hettiarachchi and others have planned a tribute show tiled ‘Ananda Ninnada’ at the Maharagama National Youth Services Council auditorium on July 27 at 6.30 pm.

The show will feature more than 30 popular singers who will sing free of charge while the orchestration headed by Mahinda Bandara and his 20-member orchestra will be done free. All proceeds will be donated to Ananda Perera for his post surgery medications.

He underwent a kidney transplant recently after it was found that one had been totally damaged and the other 35% active.

Addressing journalists on Friday, Keerthi Pasqual said it was heartening to note that all singers had voluntarily agreed to sing at this show as a mark of gratitude to Ananda Perera who shot to fame with the Shakthi group. Ananda had faced severe hardships in life restricting his movements for a few years, largely due to the illness of his son who later died at the age of nine in 2006.

Ananda said the show will also coincide with the launch of a CD comprising songs created by him.
