The maiden Derana-LUX Film Awards ceremony will be held at the Musaeus College Auditorium in Colombo on September 14 at 7.30 pm.Derana Director Programmes Sharmila Darmarasa told Impulse that 26 awards would be presented in various categories including those for the most popular film song, most popular film actor and actress.

“The awards will go to achievements based on movies screened last year. 18 movies were screened last year but only 15 had been registered with us for recognition. Besides the conventional awards in the acting categories, we are also introducing awards for the best artistes in the negative role, best comedian, best stunt director and also an award for Sri Lankan movies which have had their world premieres yet not screened in Sri Lanka.

Our aim is to make it a glamorous award festival and make it an annual event on par with recognized international film festivals. This festival will be telecast on Derana TV on September 21 at 9.45 pm,” she said.
