Curtain falls on Shwetha Rathriya

Multiple award-winning songstress Visharada Nanda Malini who made a tuneful comeback with the ‘Shwetha Rathriya’ solo musical programme on September 14 two years ago, will end the scheduled 25 concert-programme at Stein Studios in Ratmalana on September 14.

‘Shwetha Rathriya’ was held in 24 venues around the country in collaboration with Sirasa FM and comprised songs penned by Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne.

Visharada Nanda Malini who launched this solo musical show after a lapse of 22 years, told journalists she was overwhelmed by the feedback of the people which clearly meant that there existed a big space for wholesome music.

Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne the audiences included the young and old alike, while thanking Sirasa FM especially S. M. Marikkar and Nihal Wickrema Edirisuirya for initiating the plan.

Marikkar said he was planning to record the final show on September 14 and release it as a DVD.

The music was provided by an orchestra led by Suresh Maliyadde, the compering was handled by Nihal Wickrema Edirisuriya while Nilhan Seneviratne handled the costume designing for Shwetha Rathriya – the name which was suggested by Dileepa Abeysekera.

The media briefing was attended by MBC Group and its CEO Shanthi Bhagirathan, Visharada Nanda Malini, Group Director Capital Maharaja Organization Mohan Bharara, Sirasa FM Channel Head S. M. Marikkar and veteran lyricist and Senior Professor Sunil Ariyaratne.
