The 'Star Trek' actor will appear in the comedy - which he has also co-written - about a group of 30-something friends who refuse to grow up.

Chris said: "I couldn't be happier to begin the adventure of making 'Mantivities' knowing how much fun we all had writing it. Somehow, I get to laugh with my friends and call it work."

'Drop Dead Gorgeous' director Michael Patrick Jann is set to helm the project and the script was written by Chris, Will Greenberg, Drew Howerton, Robert Baker, Ian Gotler and Tony Liebetrau.

In the movie, the group band together to help one of their number mature.

Waterstone Entertainment heads Jeff Kalligheri, Stephen Bowen and Steven Garcia will produce alongside Chris, Sarah Babineau and Jordan Foley.

Chris will next be seen in 'Star Trek 2' - which will see him reprise his role of Captain James T. Kirk and star alongside Zoe Saldana, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zachary Quinto and Alice Eve - and 'People Like Us', while his voice can soon be heard on 'Rise of the Guardians'.
