Man enlists flash mob to help him propose

A US man stunned his girlfriend by enlisting a flash mob to help him propose.

The romantic guy - who is known only as Jack from Boston - surprised Teresa Elsey by arranging for hundreds of strangers to go up to her as the pair headed for a post-work date in Boston, Massachusetts.

When she was surrounded by the random people, who handed her a total of 300 flowers, Jack slyly slipped away and changed into a tuxedo and got ready to pop the question.

He returned shortly after with a microphone, got down on one knee and asked Teresa to marry him, to which she replied: "Of course."

He said: "Teresa and I both knew we were going to get married eventually, although we'd never really said it out loud."

Bill Gates invests in futuristic toilet technology

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has made a substantial investment into futuristic toilet technology.

The businessman has splashed out on the bizarre cause in an attempt to improve the world's sanitation by holding the Reinvent the Toilet fair, a US event which challenges inventors to develop environmentally-friendly toilets.

One prototype aims to turn human waste into electricity by using microwave power, and another used urine to flush away waste.

Bill explained: "We couldn't be happier with the response that we've gotten. If we do it right, there's every possibility that some of these designs would also be solutions for rich and middle-income countries."

A British man claims aliens told him to burgle his mother's home.

John Michael Kirby informed police officers that the extra-terrestrials had instructed him to break into the property in Middlesbrough as well as give stolen food to homeless people, Teesside Crown Court heard.

The 29-year-old man admitted the burglary at his mum's house and another at his uncle's home, where he stole food, aftershave and toiletries.

The court heard he made the omissions in police interviews when he told officers about the aliens.

Motorcyclist fined 4k for setting off 26 speed cameras

A German motorcyclist who deliberately set off 26 speed cameras and gave police a one-finger salute in each picture has been fined £4,000.

Dimitri Salovic hid his registration plate as he took part in the stunt, for which he was dressed in a helmet and full biking leathers, but police managed to track him down when they worked out his route around Munich.

A court heard the 17-year-old man - who has had his license taken off him - reached speeds of up to 70mph, but he was forced to slow down when police anticipated his next move and put an undercover traffic team next to the speed camera.
