Why do you love travel?

Travel is modern-day adventure, it's always refreshing to leave your norm and explore the boundaries outside of what you know and what you're accustomed to.

Your favourite travel destination and why?

Malaga, Spain - sunny summer days on the beach, just the right amount of culture in the form of art, churches and cathedrals. Warm evenings filled with the best prosciutto, paella and sangria. Total bliss.

What do you need for a perfect holiday?

Cute bikini, effective sunblock, dark sunglasses, a beach and some sunshine.

In which country have you felt most at home?

Sydney, Australia. I may be biased because my boyfriend is from there but it has everything I want in a city; business opportunities and network, yoga, beach, great food, familiarity and multi-culture.

Most unusual souvenir you have brought home?

One of the iconic beverages in New Orleans for the Mardi Gras is called the 'Hand Grenade' - a potent yet tasty drink, served up in a luminous green container that resembles a hand grenade. I took those containers home with me, the drink and the week in Nola was that memorable.

Worst holiday or travel experience?

Travelling back to Colombo from Florida for my summer break, my flight out of Tampa delayed so I missed all my connecting flights. I was stuck in Washington for 24 hours, then re-routed to London instead of Frankfurt for 12 hours with no permit to leave the airport. It was a nightmare but I survived.

Best piece of travel advice?

Drink lots of water, avoid the alcohol and move your body inflight - I walk up and down the plane a few times and do body stretches and foot exercises.

Your top five travel destinations?

Malaga, Spain
Miami, FL, USA
Lake Garda, Italy
Vienna, Austria
Madrid, Spain

What has travel taught you?

That all humans want the same things: a good life, rich experiences, soulful connections, love, adventure.

In which country did you taste the best ever cuisine?

Australia - I've had the best Japanese, Argentinian, Mediterranean, Greek and Chinese all in Sydney.

Next travel destination?

Shanghai, China. However, I'd love to go to Japan.
