The restaurant is located at Deal Place, Colombo 03 and will definitely add to the culinary hub of Colpetty. They will open their doors on August 26, 2016.
Nara Thai promises to combine high quality ingredients and age old recipes to provide a truly authentic Thai experience. The guests are assured a delicious range of bold and unique flavours that will excite their taste buds. The restaurant really delivers in terms of ambience with a ‘Thai House’ setting.
Yuki Srikarnchana, the co-founder of Nara Thai spoke exclusively to Life Online and shared her story of starting up Nara Thai. “Where my partner and I worked in Bangkok there were no Thai restaurants around so we thought of starting one up there. And we launched our first restaurant there back in 2006 and we have 7 outlets now only within Bangkok. We then expanded to Singapore followed by launching one in Ho Chi Min, Vietnam. We are now launching one in Colombo and are very excited about it. We found that Thai food is very popular here”
Mr. Shafraz Anees, the managing director of Nara Thai also joined and shared with us about his involvement with the restaurant. “We wanted to introduce Asian cuisine to the fine dining experience and I remember googling for the number 01 Thai restaurant in the world and Nara came up. So we researched more and found that they have a unique style and have achieved quite a few awards. So we reached out to them and 8 months later here we are.”
Nara Thai was solely founded and run mostly by women. Yuki Srikarnchana adds how the Thai culture is slowly changing and women are going into business and continuing their higher studies thus able to contribute to the development of Thailand. “It’s important to have a woman’s touch in anything!”
Immediately after the media briefing we were served a delicious Thai cuisine meal. They certainly did keep their promise by delivering the best of Thai upscale home cooking in the midst of a contemporary setting. The interior and ambience is absolutely stunning and well thought of. We were also treated with two traditional Thai dance performances. It really added to our experience and we received a feel of their culture.
