Happy New Year techies! As the New Year dawns, we set our sights on the best upcoming titles that must be played, mastered and bragged about. Frustratingly, some of the games don’t have firm release dates so I’ve opted to list out the games based on my personal preference. It includes a mix of FPS, TBS and RTS games.

Total War Rome 2 :

This is my most anticipated game of the year. If you’ve watched the trailer and screenshots of the game, you already know that the latest installment of the Total War series is bigger, better and smarter than ever before. In my opinion, Total War Rome is still probably one of the best Total War games ever created (tied with Shogun 2) and the Rome 2 will feature amazing new elements like combined land-naval battles, new empires, technologies, tactics, etc.

Crysis 3 :

This series might sound a bit jaded but that is probably because the original title lacked space for a serious story (unlike Halo or Assassin’s Creed) but nevertheless, this game does more than enough to compensate for this weakness with stunning graphics, gameplay and combat displays.

The latest installment will feature players desperately trying to stop world domination while hunting enemy units in the stunningly beautiful urban jungles (literally). Armed with nanosuits and Rambo style weapons, this promises to be a lot of fun.

Resident Evil 6 (for Windows) :

Resident Evil 6 serves as a prequel to the original and features units from the US special forces and the Umbrella Corp battling it out in Racoon City. Naturally, the game features many of the legendary characters, who are familiar to fans of the series.

The new game features a lot of new technology (stealth, weapons, speciality units, etc.) and combat capabilities. However, unlike a typical FPS, it also has a dark and entertaining plot to keep players on their feet.

Dead Space 3 :

This game retains its title as one of the most entertaining space-based horror movies. This game will seek to tie a lot of loose ends with regards to the plot and hopefully provide a lot of gory horror-filled moments to shoot, slice and carve our way through. The close combat and stunning audio-visuals will only increase the appeal of the game.

BioShock Infinite :

This is probably one of the most talked about games of the year. The developers have already leaked a lot of interesting story elements and gameplay trailers, so we have a pretty good idea of the plot (rescue a damsel in distress from a flying fortress that is falling apart?).

But, BioShock is so much more, featuring an intriguing background story, stunning enemy units and a very innovative combat system. Like the original, it deliberately forces players to make moral choices along the way, which just adds to the intensity of the game.
