Like all Call of Duty games, Black Ops 2 does not disappoint and comes loaded with an interesting narrative, new gameplay mechanism, gadgets and multiplayer system. There are some interesting changes, and fortunately, no major flaws resulting from those changes. Unsurprisingly, it manages to bring the same sort of adrenaline-fueled intensity that fans of the series have become used to experiencing.

Gameplay
The first thing you will notice in campaign mode is the darker narrative. There is a lot more graphic violence that immediately sets the standards for character development and in-game combat. The campaign is (sadly) not long and drawn out like Batman Arkham City
but it is certainly more entertaining.
Despite the fact that it features two different time periods - the present, which is year 2025, and the past, which is a decade during the cold war - it is coherently pieced together through the reflections of an older Frank Woods (same protagonist from Black Ops).
The enemy, Raul Menendez, is featured in both timelines and during the Cold War players uncover his origins and in the present they are tasked with stopping his gruesome plans. I’m not going to give out any spoilers but all you need to know is that the campaign does not feel like another excuse to put players in a different map; it actually fits into the broader story.
To its credit, the campaign allows players to make dramatic decisions during campaign missions, which can affect the storyline and major characters. This gives the campaign a fresh sense of energy and also improves the incentive to replay games to explore alternate character development paths.
Strike missions also make the campaign more interesting by allowing players to take control of a particular group of soldiers and drones, and then control a single unit at any given time. This is reminiscent of Commandos 3 and a bunch of other WWII games, and it is quite interesting because of the wide variety in missions that range from hostage rescue to convoy escort.
However, don’t try depending on AI support, players constantly need to switch between units and assets to maintain the upper hand. Unsurprisingly, the game also features a bunch of new gadgets, weapons systems and transportation options. All these small things contribute to a better combat experience.
Black Ops brings back the zombies mode. As always this lovable mission is a lot of fun to play, especially when you are battling it out with your buddies to determine who can last the longest while coming under assault from growing hordes of zombies. Despite the new ways of blowing up zombies, this type of mission becomes quite boring after awhile.
Verdict
If you a serious COD fan, then you’ve already sets your sights on playing and mastering this game. The amazing story, charismatic characters, stunning gadgets and new strike missions are just a few of the reasons you should be racing to get your hands on this game.
If you are looking for an amazing FPS experience, then Black Ops 2 is a superb place to start, even if you are not familiar with COD. Ultimately, Black Ops 2 really demonstrates the resilience of a successful gaming formula and it is not going to go away anytime soon.
