This week’s tech column features a new release: Ghost Warrior 2. Once you are done reading this page, feel free to send us a comment and let us know exactly which game you are anticipating the most.
So it’s Rome 2 Vs Ghost Warrior 2, let the polls commence!
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
Sniper Ghost Warrior was particularly interesting because it took the role of the sniper to a completely new level. Generally, being a sniper in a FPS game meant zooming in on a target and pulling the trigger. Ghost Warrior changed the game by introducing elements that made the sniping experience more realistic. Therefore, instead of an extra level of zooming, players must take into account the same elements that real-world snipers encounter during a mission. Thus, the trajectory, wind velocity, and other elements all come into play.
Fans of Ghost Warrior are definitely about to be thrilled with the sequel because it brings in a whole bunch of new features while improving on a variety of popular existing features. In Ghost Warrior 2, players get a chance to play as a private security consultant named Captain Cole Anderson. Throughout the game, players will have a chance to display their skills as a sniper in diverse battlefields including Sarajevo, Burma and Tibet. If you want to get a feel of the new game but can’t wait to buy the full version, then I highly recommend checking out the demo, which actually features a tantalising amount of gameplay.
Ghost Warrior 2 two features the new CryEngine 3, which is sure to enhance the graphics and allow creators to add more detail to the environment. Ghost Warrior 2 will also allow novice players to use a simpler targeting mechanism while more advanced players can opt for the more realistic targeting option. Other features like synchronised kills and the famous bullet cam will also return in the sequel. There are a number of new tactics involved including the ability to conduct stealth kills on the fly. New weapons and accessories are also available and the coolest by far is the thermal scope, which allows players to spot targets through snowstorms while battling it out in the Himalayas.
I didn’t get a chance to check out the multiplayer features but based on what I know it will retain many of the features introduced in the first game including the ability for players to duel with each other as snipers. Interestingly, the co-op mode is not featured in the sequel and that is a shame because it would be awesome to have your best gaming buddy as your spotter every now and then.
The game should be out about now, but obviously, it will take a few more weeks for the game to reach these distant shores. Hopefully, the full version will be available for download much sooner than that.
If any of you get a chance to play the game in the next few weeks, please do let us know what you think.
