My Favourite Android Apps - October
Listed below a few of the Android Apps that are quite dear to us:
Google Play Newsstand: I am not sure how many people appreciate this app. It provides the latest content from lots of interesting news sources from technology, politics, entertainment, health, hobbies, sports, etc. I particularly, love the collection of news sources, which include The Verge, Huffington Post, Live Science, Maxim, Reuters, and even the Colombo Telegraph (often banned).
IFTTT: If This Then That is a great app for automating a lot of routines or habits you have. You can programme your phone to do a variety of things. For instance, I have set a location action that automatically increases my phone’s volume whenever I leave the house but puts it on silent when I am at work. But that's just scratching the surface.
Twilight: Can't fall asleep at night? If you spend a lot of time with your phone, you are fooling your brain into thinking its daylight (because of the type of light emitted by phones). Twilight (nothing to do with the movie) makes it easier for you to fall asleep by controlling the colour of the ambient light.
Google Now: This app never ceases to amaze me. I am not particularly paranoid about privacy so I suppose I appreciate this in different ways. Google Now can scan emails and pull up card for my flights, remind me of meetings, and whole host of other features. Indispensable.
