   They are all good looking and they all look like European wannabe's. Sri Lanka has plenty of darker skinned beauties but as usual one needs to look like a European in order to qualify as beautiful.

   Sri Lanka is a very diverse country and we should be proud of it. This is not "Miss Nationalistic", this is a modern day beauty pageant, a competition, has nothing to do with portraying your idea of traditional/ideal beauty. Skin color has nothing to do with how Sri Lankan or not someone is.

   For beauty contest in srilanka i dont see any srilankan girl come through. for beauty contest sl girl's who participated are foreign educated, less sinhala speak, dark less, high society rich daughters.

   The judges made the best choice and Sabrina really deserved the crown.

   They are all beautiful (in their own ways) But none of them have any grace. There was an interview earlier with all of the girls, not one of them had a sense of calm and collected self. I dont know why our people think that to qualify for and win a pageant English is mandatory. Since of late only those with foreign backgrounds seems to be winning these contests. Is there some sort of genuine bias or is it that the competition is poor? There are so many more intelligent beautiful women in Sri Lan

    Just because a Sri Lankan girl has been educated overseas, fairer and is blessed with riches does not make her any less Sri Lankan than you. The girls speak both Sinhala and English (the most common language in the world) which you Dumudu speak very little of, so maybe you should educate yourself or better not comment if you dont know how to in correct english. Right now you just sound like a jealous person with very low self esteem, and putting people down who you dont even know to make yoursel

    Everyone seems a winner, beautiful array of attractive women in this years contest. Now there should be intensive coaching by past contest winners on the 'ins and outs of the International beauty contests' , that they are to compete in. Most other countries have and array of experts in all the 'beauty contest fields' that train their contest winners.

    Some of those who have made their comments have not considered that the search for a Ms Sri Lanka for Ms Universe or any other international title, does NOT end here on our shores. She has to contend with contestants of many countries on categories that are quite stringent. Colour is not the criteria, it is the bias of people who cannot see beyond their own bigoted thought process who bring division into something that should make every Sri Lankan proud.

    My sentiments exactly. I am as black as the ace of spades & with a name like mine I've got to be irate about a 'light'skinned person being the "Most Beautiful" on the night. Come on fellows, stop looking for excuses as to why TAN didn't get a gurnsey. Sabrina will do a "Maureen Hingert" & end up MISS UNIVERSE. Maybe some of you protesters are too undernage to remember our Maureen, Yes, she had a light skin - a respectable Burgher girl from a great family. Please give Miss Herft a 'fair go' guys.

    YAHOOOO!!!!! Way to go!!!! Sabrina Herft really deserves the crown, she was the prettiest, the most confident and was the most suitable person for this crown. I like the way she speaks, it's really nice. Aushani Samarasinghe is also correctly chosen to be the 1st runner up. I hope Sabrina would really make Sri Lanka proud at the Miss. Universe contest. Come on, Sabrina, you can do it, because you have the courage, the determination, intelligence and the looks, even if you don't win, don't worry,

    I was born in Sri Lanka some 72yeas ago, now living in the UK find it intriguing and absolutely overwhelmed at the most beautiful young ladies that represent Sri Lanka. I congratulate then with all my heart.

    All the finalists were beautiful and the best got selected. I agree with Hyacinth. Pl don't bring division into a great event where the organizers and the judges have done a just and great job. Stop being petty minded and be happy for the beautiful girls and wish them well. I wish Sabrina and Madusha the very best. I am sure they can and will do Sri Lanka proud.

    Mr. BW. Sad to see your mindset is from the 1800s'. Beauty has nothing to do with skin colour or social status. Lots of Sri Lankan beauty queens in the past were all mostly light skinned girls. There were some dark skinned girls who won the title as well. We are a diversified nation. I hate stereotypes. Wake up we are in 21st century.

    Our family left S/L in the late sixties to the lucky-country, it was a brilliant move.
    I find the S/L's always knock themselves, now in a beauty pageant? what next?
    The contestants are beautiful, the prettiest of them all...won. Get over all the doubts & inferiority complexes, these hang-ups will drag you down.

    Yes! I agree with u, it seems still even in the East judges vote for the white skin. I am light skined too, but I know of much beautiful girls who did not participate with dark skins.

I know beauty is nothing to do with skin colour, which is why it pisses me off why Sri Lankans are always viewing fairer as more beautiful.     just because they are skinny doesn't mean one is healthy. For all of you who don't want others to talk negative about Lanka, you people are the ones giving the reason for all the negativity. As said in prev. comments, never have i seen a dark women on their platforms, even if one does come, they fake it so much that they look like masks. if people stop putting emphasis on colour and body structure, there would less people with eating disorders, and less depression.

    Sabrina, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I know of a friend of mine who married an ayyama( maid ). Not because she was beatiful but she was plesant and intelligent . And also poor. They are living in Austalia happily. Congratulations and all the best at the universal pageant.

    Typical South Asian attitude surfaces again in some of the above posters' sentiments and the contest choices, namely one must look European to be considered attractive.
    South Asians have a massive inferiority complex when it comes to skin color and features, picking the fair and sharp featured every time.
    Ironically in the West people have moved towards accepting dark skinned non Caucasoid featured persons as attractive.
