The gala pageant for Crown Miss Intercontinental Sri Lanka 2017 – an event by Exceptional Entertainment is gaining momentum. While the closing dates for entries are nearing, the organisers are prepping up to make it an event of a lifetime.

The Top 20 contestants will be chosen by a distinguished panel of judges who will speak to each and every applicant before they have been finalised. Thereafter, the contestants will undergo an intense training and development schedule which has been designed to empower the contestants to optimise not only on their beauty but also on their intellect and acumen. A collective of experts from motivational speakers, to fitness gurus, to media consultants to styling, grooming and etiquette specialists and business and entrepreneurial mentors are being included in the panel of resource persons. The top fifteen semi-finalists will be chosen after another round of interviews and will then undergo even more concentrated and penetrative training to ensure each contestant marks up to the international standards required of the MIO – The Miss Intercontinental Organisation.

The title holder will receive attractive offers besides a total gift purse of LKR 500,000 including an official residence for the year of reign, a monthly allowance during the year, one year grooming facility with the hair and beauty partner and complete financial support to carry through the pageant’s social responsibility cause.

What makes this year’s pageant more exciting is its ‘Battle of Designers’ – an opportunity for young Sri Lankan designers to showcase their design abilities. The winner’s design will be worn by the Title Holder at the international pageant in Mumbai.  The designer will also be able to travel to Mumbai and be present at the Coronation Pageant to see his or her design being worn by Crown Miss Intercontinental Sri Lanka 2017.

This pageant is not only about beauty. Hence, it gives a chance for all contestants to not only show how beautiful they are but also to support a greater cause – the Community Concern’s Heavena Residential Shelter for Abused, Trafficked and Homeless Women. The shelter has been providing support to marginalised women and children in distress since 2004.  It provides a healing environment where mothers and their children who have been abused, homeless and trafficked may find a refuge for a period of six months or more depending on the individual.

The programme strives to restore the physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual condition of every resident. When they first come in, a psychosocial worker assists and advises them until they are stronger after which they are gradually helped to work out an exit plan.

Closing date for entries are July 31.
