The ‘World Dance Council Asian Amateur League Ranking Championships’ is scheduled to be held on July 8, 2012 at Galadari Hotel, according to Shiromi Perera, Directress of ‘Rhythm World Dance Studio’ and International Director for the World Dance Council Asian Amateur League for Sri Lanka.

The above championship is Organized by ‘Rhythm World’ in Association with ‘Sri Lanka Tourism’.
   
Apart from the leading dance schools in Sri Lanka, many couples from countries spread all over the world are expected to compete at this event – countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Italy, India, Hong Kong, United Kingdom and many more.

To maintain the high standards of the Championship, Shiromi has invited a panel of Professional Adjudicators Licensed by the World Dance Council from countries such as Holland, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong.    

This championship will provide a fine opportunity for local Latin American & Ballroom dancers to participate in and show their talents at an International Dance Championship, dancing amongst many international dancers.

The ‘All England Professional Ballroom Champion’  couple and Blackpool competitors; and the Professional Open Winner of the 1st Sri Lanka International Rhythm World Dancesport Championship -  Antony Price & Zoey Price are also expected to arrive in Sri Lanka to compete in this dance championship.    

As in 2011 the marking or Scrutineering system is being brought down from Australia.

This latest and most advanced system used for judging at international level competitions is the I-Pad system.   This gives transparency to the marking system whilst providing a very efficient and quick result analysis and at the same time creates a sense of fairness amongst  the competitors.

Such a system was introduced in Sri Lanka for the very first time by Shiromi Perera at the 1st Sri Lanka International Rhythm World Dancesport Championship held in 2011. A special award will be handed out to the most outstanding Sri Lankan dance couple or dancer at this competition.
