She's also a well behaved little blob who is quite scared of coming down the stairs but runs up them as if she knew how to, her whole life! Although she hasn't been around for long, she is by far the cutest little thing that could pass of as a soft toy.
Pet's details
Name: Cherry
Breed: German shepherd x Pitbull
Age: 2 months
Owner: Sheshadri Kottearachchi
What's the significance of the name you've given her?
There is no particular significance. What we did was, we made a list of our top 10 favourite names and then randomly settled on one.
What is a typical day like for Cherry?
She sleeps outside the house, on the patio so she’s safe and dry, even when it rains. At around 6:00 she wakes up and we let her run around the garden for a while. Then she comes inside for breakfast (milk and bread soaked in milk) and her vitamins. She’ll run around, lick and playfully bite everyone for a while and then go back to the garden where she spends most of her day until lunch. After lunch she has a long (LONG) nap and by the time everyone comes home from work/school (at around 5:00 p.m) she’s allowed inside and she gets lots of attention until dinner.
What are mealtimes and bathtimes like?
Bathing her is fun, for now, because she’s so tiny. We basically keep her inside a basin and scrub her clean. Mealtimes are her favourite time. She has three main meals and little snacks throughout the day. When she hears her milk being stirred, she patiently sits and waits in the kitchen until it’s poured into a bowl for her.
Does she do anything out of the ordinary that fascinates you?
She likes to run under my bed all the time, which is admittedly very weird, but whenever she’s allowed in my room, her favourite thing to do is to run around under it for a while. She’s also too small to climb down the stairs yet, and although she runs up them like a pro, she gets nervous when she has to walk down. So we carry her.
What annoys her the most?
Being kept outside for too long, especially when she knows the whole family is inside the house.
What is her most favourite fun time activity?
Getting her belly rubbed!
What is the naughtiest thing she has done?
So far, nothing too bad. She chewed a pair of rubber slippers but they were old so it didn’t matter.
How did you find her?
Online! We looked up dogs on ikman.lk and found a breeder. It was all very quick and efficient.
What is she most afraid of?
Nothing in particular yet..
How does she react when you returned home after a long day?
Coming home to her is the best feeling in the world! She comes running up to me, ears cocked up, tail wagging like crazy and jumps on my knees, barking. She’s always so happy to see me and loves being petted.
What's makes her the best?
She’s very affectionate. She can be very naughty sometimes, but she’s loving and loyal and the sweetest little puppy I’ve known.
What was the most unforgettable moment and you shared with her?
The first night we brought her home. She was so tiny and small and scared of everything around her at first. I held her in my arms for a really long time until she fell asleep. It was very comforting.
