Food & drinks and value for money *****

Hansa Café can never disappoint me. I am not a coffee person, which may explain why on the rare occasion I do have a Cafe Latte (Rs 250) from Hansa Cafe, I end up being alert for hours on end. The coffee aside, they do delicious iced teas as well as amazing Hot Chocolate (Rs 325) made using Hansa chocolate.

A few weeks ago the café introduced waffles with various toppings and they will be available throughout the day only on Wednesdays. Among the topping on offer are Butter and Kitul Peni or Coconut Palm Syrup (Rs 200) as well as Pol Sambol, Seeni Sambol, Strawberries & Cream, Banana & Hansa Dark Chocolate or Nutella with Chocolate Nibs (Rs 250 each).

The waffle topped with pol sambol and green chillies is also quite delicious but I am more of waffle and sweets sort of person so it didn’t appeal to me as much but I would definitely recommend it for a light lunch.

Nutella with Chocolate Nibs on a light yet crunchy and soft waffle is really a special treat. The chocolate nibs gives it an amazing texture while the rich Nutella is just heavenly. Butter and Kitul Peni is also a wonderful combination especially because the kitul peni is so fresh and light, the closest to maple syrup you can come across here in terms of its light texture.

If you are a dark chocolate fan, I suggest you try out their dark chocolate (100g with sugar Rs 300 and 100g with jaggery Rs 400), which is available at the store. The chocolate has a unique texture and flavour and is quite addictive! So, this melted on a crispy waffle topped with bananas is pretty special. The intense flavour of the chocolate blends so well with the sweetness of the banana and can be a filling treat.

Staff *****

Viraj, the barista at Hansa Café is extremely friendly and knows a lot about coffee and will always serve you with a smile.

Ambience *****

The relaxed atmosphere at the café would make you stay on for hours while the free wifi helps!
