The Startup Cook – Chicken & Cheese Bites

Simple recipes are a treasure when you have a schedule that is fit for the president or when you have guests coming over or BOTH. This particular recipe is my go-to snack in situations of urgent hunger or people casually popping over.

The best thing about this simple food is it requires ingredients that are easily available in your kitchen. And better yet, it takes only a few minutes of your time. It’s also a very flexible recipe, you can increase or decrease or substitute ingredients as you wish.

It’s effortless and delicious. My only word of warning is that these little bites are super addictive. Once you pop you can’t stop.

Ingredients

6 slices of bread
1 slice of chicken ham
2 tbs of chopped onions
1 tbs of chopped parsley
¼ tsp of lime juice
Cheese
Butter
Salt
Pepper

Directions

Preheat the oven to 190 Celsius. Prepare a muffin tin and set it aside.

Take a wide rim glass and use it cut out bread casings.

Using a rolling pin, flatten out the bread.

Butter both sides of the bread generously and place them in the muffin tin.

Cut the chicken ham in to small pieces and place a teaspoon of it in each casing.

Add the lime juice to the onion, stir and spoon it on top of the chicken ham.

Sprinkle some salt and pepper over it.

Add a teaspoon of chopped cheese on top of it.

Garnish the bites with parsley.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Disasters, Warnings and Tips

This is such a yum snack. I love that crispy crunchy taste! Yum!

You get six bites with this recipe.

I was listening to the radio play version of William Makepeace Thackeray’s Vanity Fair while making this.

You could stick to a veggie option by adding some tomato and increasing on the cheese.

Oooh I got a new oven! Yay!
