Centrally located in the City of Jaffna, but free from all traffic noise, Tilco Jaffna City Hotel is an oasis for the discerning guest. The hotel was started in 2011 by Thavaraja Thilakaraj, who incidentally is also the Chairman of Northern Province Tourist Board.

Forty two air conditioned comfortable rooms with in-house TV and two honey-moon suites are available in the hotel, plus two halls for private functions, bar facility, Gym, Spa, Beauty Parlour, Restaurant and spacious parking area. A swimming pool and a Children’s Play Park complex are under construction.

The excellent cuisine served here comprises of North & South Indian food, Chinese and local food varieties, prepared by qualified and experienced chefs well trained in their specific food preparation. Of the local food, the popular Odiyal Kool and Crab Curry are excellently prepared.

Uniqueness of the hotel is, though located in the city, it is free from traffic noise and pollution and has a calm and soothing atmosphere.

The hotel complex comprises of two buildings, one five-storey building that houses only the guest rooms and the other three storey building, which houses the halls, restaurant, bar, gym and the administrative block.

The hotel gives an excellent view of the Jaffna city on one side and on the other the Jaffna landmarks of Dutch Fort, Library and Pannai Beach.

Tourists arriving in the hotel are provided free transport in hotel vehicles to visit the tourist spots in the city.

The man power consists of forty five employees most of them are from the North. The hotel has the reputation for hosting meetings of the President and the Governor.

As a sign of the hotel’s popularity, a restaurant and a children’s park have been constructed and operated by the hotel in Jaffna Chaatti Beach. The hotel is marching on its way contributing to the tourism development of the North.
