Samitha from The Wedding Flowers
What would you say is the toughest part of your job?
The toughest part of our job would be handling weddings. As we all know Sri Lanka is a country full of traditions and culture and a place where we start every special occasion with an auspicious time. Therefore we work tirelessly to have a wedding or event venue completely set up and decorated before the function starts.
What’s the biggest last minute crisis you’ve had in your career?
Well, when handling banquet functions because the hotel venue is sometimes booked back to back the time and the schedule to decorate is such a big challenge. Therefore time management is very important so having a function before the wedding kind of becomes our last minute crisis in terms of having to complete the work on time.
How do you deal under pressure during a crisis?
Having an experience of 15 years, our work is well organized so we communicate with the clients and the respective parties and get prepared prior to the function. For example, if we are running out of time we will get our specialized staff ready and even increase the number of workers in such a situation.
What are the last minute crises that a couple should be aware of and how do they tackle it or prevent it?
This could vary from couple to couple, but in general all couples should plan in advance at least 6 months ahead. They must also select well experienced, qualified and well equipped professional service providers so that they will be able to prevent last minute crises. Couples should use their hard earned money wisely and plan everything according to a proper budget and thus, they will be able to tackle such situations and will be able to have a peace of mind and enjoy the memorable day!
