The Startup Cook : Garlic Mashed Potato
Mashed potatoes are a universal favourite. It’s superbly easy to make, filling and makes an excellent side dish to almost any main meat based dish. However more than often this plain looking dish (although brilliant in taste) is ignored and has never been the talk of the town.
The truth is the tastiest food need not always look the most attractive. And this garlic mashed potato is the best example to this statement. If you are a garlic bread person or a fan of food that has a strong affair with garlic, this would definitely be your favourite.
A picture is worth a 1000 words. But in this special case the taste is worth a 1000 words.
Ingredients
1 big potato
4 cloves of garlic
3 tbs of butter
2 tbs of milk
Salt
Pepper
Sage
Directions
Wash the potato well and cut in to quarters.
Place the potatoes in a heavy based pan, fill with water and boil for 15 – 20 minutes.
Once the potato quarters have boiled, fish them out of the water and set aside.
Add the garlic cloves, butter in to a food processor and blitz.
Peel the cooled potato quarters, cut them in to squares and add them in to the processor.
Add a dash of pepper, a teaspoon of salt, the milk and process until well combined.
Spoon the mashed potato on to a plate and garnish with some sage.
