The play was based on a group of Irish – American men who attends a church support group every Wednesday to discuss a common problem of ‘size’. Gehan Blok’s insightful direction and casting choices, coupled with a quick paced and witty script made The Irish Curse a standout offering this year.
Starring Pasan Ranaweera as Father Kevin, Gehan Blok as Rick Baldwin (big talker), Dominic Keller as Joseph Flaherty (abandoned husband), Andre Perera as Kieran Riley (nervous bridegroom-to-be) and Dino Corera as Stephen Fitzgerald (gay cop), the play explored a deeper and darker side of an issue usually made light of.
The audience shared their thoughts on the play with Daily Mirror Life:

I like the cast. I don’t think it’s just a comedy. There is a lot of deep stuff being explored.

The cast has amazing chemistry. You do feel sad for them though.

It’s very awkward to be a guy in the audience but I liked the play and I really like the Irish guy.

I think it’s very important that they discuss this. I mean, we are laughing about it but it’s also a very sensitive issue.
Well, I think it’s really good and very humorous. Everyone should watch it!
