The Amazing Spiderman 2, a much anticipated blockbuster hit was released in Sri Lanka, the same day as its release worldwide on the 2nd of May 2014. The movie was released by Ceylon Theatres and its premiere was held at the Majestic City Platinum Cinema in Colombo and the recently opened cinema in Jaffna as well.

The Amazing Spiderman is an American superhero film featuring the loved Marvel comic’s character – Spiderman. The Amazing Spiderman 2 is a sequel to The Amazing Spiderman which was released in 2012 and was directed by Marc Webb, and is a film presented by Colombia pictures. The main cast for the film starring Andrew Garfield (Spiderman), Emma Stone (Gwen), Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Dane DeHaan (Harry Osborn).

The conflict in objectives between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spiderman has always been a difficult issue of balance. However, in The Amazing Spiderman 2 Peter Parker is about to experience his greatest battle yet. For Peter Parker there is no better feeling than swinging between sky scrapers; being the hero and spending time with Gwen. But being Spider man comes at a price…

Only Spiderman can protect the city and his fellow New Yorkers from the villains that are threats of security. Electro – a powerful villain than Spiderman, who was once an ardent fan of his, is one of them that he must confront. The other is his old friend Harry Osborn who returns, making ‘Oscorp’ the one thing both enemies have in common.

The Ceylon Theatres anticipates that the superhero sequel will be a hit in Sri Lanka as it has already swung to the top of the UK box office. Ceylon Theatres celebrates 86 years of cinema in Sri Lanka this year and is a pioneer in the local cinema industry.
