Why do you love travel?

I love to relax! It is also important to get away from laptops and all other modern technology because a hard working mind needs relaxation . It is also good to experience other cultures and taste their native cuisine.

Your favourite travel destination and why?

Sri Lanka. Where ever in the world I live Sri Lanka is always home!

What do you need for a perfect holiday?

I do like going to places where there is bright sunshine! A great hotel, good food and good transport links.

In which country have you felt most at home?

Australia..  some parts remind me of my very own country Sri Lanka.

Most unusual souvenir you have brought home?

Nothing unusual, I try to bring something that reflect my memories of the holiday.

Favourite holiday discovery?

My visit to Arizona in the US. The Grand Canyon and caves was a mind blowing experience. Seeing the beautiful sight of  several pomegranate trees in Melbourne was a great discovery for me as for a moment I felt I was in Sri Lanka.

Worst holiday or travel experience?

I am still to experience my worst holiday, t but having said that, I had some interesting experiences during meal times at the Disney Hotel, Paris.

Best piece of travel advice?

Plan, plan and plan. Do not judge any hotels by the pictures. If it is a 4 or 5 star hotel then things should be ok but if it is anything smaller the pictures can be quite deceptive. Research your hotel on many review sites, and not just one.

Your top five travel destinations?

Sri Lanka, Australia, USA, Canada and France.

What has travel taught you?

It has taught me to understand how other nationalities live, their values and sometimes there are lots of positive things you can learn from another’s culture.

Which country did you taste the best ever cuisine?

I think the hotel buffets in Sri Lanka are hard to beat. There is so much variety and nothing like a great choice of Sri Lankan food, so Sri Lankan cuisine it is!

Next travel destination?

I would like to revisit Dubai and see the sights I missed the last time.
