In celebrating their very first anniversary of opening an outlet in Colombo, Subway partnered with the Foundation of Goodness to provide meals to 50 children with special needs, in an event held last Wednesday.
The meals were handed over to cricketing legend Muthiah Muralidaran to be distributed to the Navodaya Special Children’s School located in Mount Lavinia, and was facilitated by the Foundation of Goodness. The event also coincided with Subway celebrating their 50th anniversary worldwide.
Speaking to Daily Mirror Life, Muralidaran expressed his sincere gratitude at this initiative taken by Subway. “I really appreciate that Subway has taken this initiative to provide a healthy meal to these children today, who don’t get the opportunity to eat food like this, and something they would really enjoy. The Foundation of Goodness supports the Navodaya Special Children’s School and we are extremely glad to be a part of this small but great project,”
“With the Foundation of Goodness, it’s all about bringing good to every project they embark on, and I hope this also involves good and healthy food, which is what we did today – by providing a healthy meal to these children. Fundamentally, I think the fact that these children don’t have access to this type of food made us want to embark on this initiative. It brings us great pleasure to partner with the Foundation of Goodness,” explained Sharad Sri – Partner/Head of Investments at Ataraxia Capital Partners, owners of the franchise in Sri Lanka.
The Navodaya Special Children Foundation was established by Lakshmi Karunajeewa with the main objective of serving the children with special needs, by taking into consideration the holistic picture of the differently abled child so as to allow the child and their family to live as a part of the community with respect and dignity.
The Foundation of Goodness has spent 16 years serving the Sri Lankan community across all ages, ethnicities, religions, languages and regions, and have worked hand in hand with Muthiah Muralidaran to support the Navodaya Special Children School (which provides an essential service to children with special needs) including refurbishing their building to make it more practical and environment friendly.
