Rripe Juice Bar is situated on Marine Drive just to the right of Carlwil Place in Kollupitiya, facing the sea. This simply constructed juice bar cannot be missed with its counter placed in the middle with a couple of orange awnings on either side. With parking on the side of the road containing enough room for a couple of vehicles, this juice bar is a must visit; I'm sure it will keep you coming back for more once you try their mango juice!
This mango juice has been beautifully blended and is more than enough to quench your thirst on a hot afternoon in Colombo. Open from 7.30am to 7.00 pm, this juice bar is the ideal place to revitalise yourself either in the morning on your way to work or after your evening exercise routine. The juices are served sugar free and if you have a sweet tooth, don’t hesitate to ask for some added sugar!
The name says it all. The idea behind the term Rripe is that these fresh fruits are picked at the right time with the right maturity and ripeness and this enables Rripe to provide their customers with a consistently enjoyable eating experience.
Obtaining their produce from their own sources, the 140-acre farm (Rajarata Farm) in Dambewatana Dambulla consists of various fruits such as Papaya, Ambarella, Anoda, Star fruit and not forgetting their main crop which is mango; they grow and offer more than 20 varieties of mangoes of which their main variety of mango is referred to as the TJC Mango. Not only fruits, but this large property has a few types of vegetables as well as rice. This is one of the few farms in the island that has the International Standard Global- Gap certification, which is a standard certification for good agricultural practices.
The term TJC has been named after Tom Ellawala, who was a cultivator as well as the founder and chairman of Ellawala Horticulture (Pvt) Ltd. Pairing up with the late Juan Carlos, a Philippine national, Tom was able to identify a variety of mango which was ideal for the country with a small seed and golden yellow in colour when ripe and this was the birth of the TJC mango.
