My daughter is a red velvet cake fanatic. She will devour anything that starts with the words red velvet. Therefore when I came across this version of hot chocolate, I was tickled pink for I knew someone who would enjoy this with squeals and giggles of delight. Perfect accompaniment on these cold wet evenings, the red velvet hot chocolate will tantalize your taste buds and soothe you into a comfortable bliss.

Ingredients

· 1 cup of skim milk
· 1/2 cup of chopped chocolate bits
· 1 - 1 1/2 tsp red food coloring
· 1 tsp vanilla

For the whipped cream

· 1/4 cup of heavy cream
· 1 Tbsp powdered sugar
· 1/2 tsp vanilla

Instructions

Heat the milk over medium flame then whisk in the chocolate, and stir until completely melted. Next stir in the food coloring and the vanilla. Set aside. In another bowl whip the cream with the sugar and some more vanilla. Serve the hot chocolate topped with whip cream and chocolate shavings. A delicious and unusual treat for any red velvet lover!
