Recipe: Mangosteen and Lime Sorbet

There is excitement in my household, mangosteens are in season and we are all great fans. The kids enjoy the fuit as a whole, firstly the whole process of breaking into the intriguing purple object provides them with a fun challenge and once the white interior shows itself everyone's screams at delicious fruit at their fingertips. Therefore I was pleasantly amused to come across this recipe which still titillates our tastebuds with our favourite fruit but also offers us a cool alternative dessert on these hot tropical days of summer. Deviously easy to make, at the initial mention of it I imagined myself getting lost in fine cuisine of beating and mixing. But it was refreshingly simple to make and our love affair with the mangosteen fruit entered another dimension of undying love. This mangosteen and lime sorbet is to be tried and shared, make some today!


Ingredients (for four people) 

3 mangosteens
1 lime juiced
½ cup white sugar, caster if found is better
1 egg white
4 ice cubes

Method 

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a shallow tray, place in freezer until set. Scoop and enjoy thoroughly. It is best when eaten promptly once served. Sweet and delicious, a palate pleaser which is sure to be enjoyed by one and all.
