After tandoori chicken, Biriyani is probably the one dish that defines 'Indian cuisine' to the rest of the world. The Pot Biriyani! Truly authentic, traditional and utterly delicious as the name suggests, is the taste of the soil.
Pot Biriyani is a small home cookery run by Mr & Mrs Waznie and it’s grown over 8-years and they specialise in a delicious range of clay pot biriyanis such as chicken, mutton, prawn and vegetable. It's takeaway or delivery and it's meant for groups - eight adults or four adults by default which is bigger than the standard sawaan portion. As the name implies, everything comes in clay pots. You get the usual biriyani pot, kottu pot, devilled pot, string hopper pot, Chinese pot and even dessert pot.
The Pot Biriyani has a remarkable feature - it integrates beautifully with local flavours. Long-grained aromatic Basmati rice layered with perfectly marinated meat and an assortment of fresh spices create the most amazing fusion of flavour. The fragrance and the freshness will captivate your senses. The meat crumbles into tender bits at the touch of a spoon and each mouthful feels like the first.
The Pot Biriyani is for someone who can trust every ingredient used to prepare food in true traditional style. It is for those who want to experience the taste of home, which is pure and hygienic. Think tender succulent meat, fresh spices procured from the heart of Sri Lanka, pure ghee from villages and crisp herbs. So, you can dig in to your heart’s content without worrying about the after-effects.
Apart from the signature pots they've got few other ranges of sides as well. The Prawn masala and the Prawn devilled are simply delicious, not forgetting their pepper chicken, mutton korma and the butter chicken. The Chinese pot comes handy when you are in need of a change. Chinese fried rice serves eight and four and you get the option of choosing from chicken, prawn, fish and sea food and you do not need to pay extra for the meat you choose.
Pot Biriyani is conveniently located at 1st Lane in Kirulopana surrounded by major institutes, banks, and close to major intersections.
