Sri Lanka’s number 1 English radio station is at the forefront once again as it empowers Colombo’s official Oktoberfest 2013 with 5 days dedicated to all things Bavarian at the Havelock grounds from 6pm onwards from the 9th to the 13th of October.
Oktoberfest is the world's largest fair held annually in Munich, Germany. It is a 16 day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the original Munich event.
This year Colombo’s official Oktoberfest will be bigger and better. With a grand atmosphere, a grand castle theme complete with giant chandeliers and Bavarian knights at the entrance. Featuring the ever famous 5 member music troupe Stan’d Huber all the way from Germany to provide live entertainment from German hits to international oldies plus Sri Lanka’s very own Glory! Bavarian Female Hostesses in traditional Oktoberfest costumes to provide you with authentic German cuisine and beverages.
A host of unusual games typical of Oktoberfest will also keep the action going: barrel rolling, hammer strength pretzel even a dunking booth and so much more. Dozens of food & games stalls, carnival rides and firework display's every night.
