We've heard of Leo the Lion, but do you know of Leo the Doberman? Well now you do. Cleanliness is next to Godliness in Leo's eyes and is a top priority to him. He also enjoys being the party starter by singing 'Happy Birthday' and without a doubt enjoys the celebratory food that follows!

What's the significance of the name you've given him?

He was named after Leo the lion.

What is a typical day like for Leo?

When he gets up in the morning he makes sure that everybody else in the house is up. He will greet each and every person in his special way wagging his nonexistent tail. Then he watches everybody dress up for work and that’s his saddest time of day.

What are mealtimes and bathtimes like?

He starts his day with milk at 5 am and then his rice later on for breakfast. But for Leo his favourite meals are chocolate, pizzas, cake. He loves his bath. He is a very clean canine. Most of all he loves to brush his teeth.

Does he do anything out of the ordinary which fascinates you?

He sits on our lap like a little boy. Also he loves to take part in family birthdays and he sings his own version of 'Happy Birthday'.

What annoys him the most?

Mostly, the next door cat and the birds that visit our garden. Anything and everything which does not belong to the family annoys him.

What is his most favourite activity of all time?

He waits for the kids to get home and then he brings all his toys out to play with them. But he takes it back to his hiding place after a few minutes. (Although he is a very ferocious dog he loves his soft toys).

What is the naughtiest thing he has done?

He is really a happy and well-mannered dog but sometimes he loves to sneak up on to the beds at night and sleep with the kids. (You will never know the difference between him and the kids unless you switch a light on!).

How did you find him?

Through a paper advertisement.

What is he most afraid of?

Nothing scares him. Unless he does something extremely naughty and he knows that he will get punished. But Leo knows how to get away with anything.

How does he react when you've returned home after work?

He will know when somebody is coming miles away and then he will start running up and down the stairs and the hallway. He will not forget to give his special welcome which lasts for at least a good 15 to 20 minutes.

What's makes him the best?

He is the most wonderful dog on earth. He knows when you're happy and knows when you're sad. He is a good friend. You can dress him up. He loves his t-shirts. He actually wears sweaters in cold weather and whenever we take him upcountry.

What was the most unforgettable moment that you shared with him?

There are many unforgettable moments which we have shared with him but the best is the day we brought him home. We brought him when he was just a few weeks. From that day to date he has been a bundle of joy, he can make you happy when you're sad, he can annoy you to the maximum. He is pure joy, happiness, companionship. Every day you spend with him is an unforgettable moment. He loves his car rides and he has travelled to Balangoda as well as Hatton. These moments are the best.
