Nothing compares to home made food, and fresh factory produced pasta made to order by a mother-daughter duo can is a rather interesting concept. MAMA’s gourmet pasta products are made fresh by an Italian Mother-Daughter team in their BOI approved factory in Negombo.

Monica and Sabastiana Maniezzi di Martini are the culinary duo that make MAMA’s gourmet pasta a possibility. They list an array of benefits of buying pasta from them and cooking, over pastas on the shelf of supermarkets or elsewhere.

As the duo put their rich Italian culinary expertise to good use, and the products have all the goodness of a hand-made item, both in appearance and quality. MAMA’s pasta comes in a range of flavours I haven’t seen at other places, both filled and unfilled. Oregano, black pepper, beetroot, cocoa, basil and rosemary are among other flavours in which the range of pastas and ravioli come.

Stuffed raviolis with red bell pepper, mozzarella, chicken, pesto and chicken are just a few I can name alongside others all of which sound and look too yummy. The duo says, “Our crafted pasta is made only with fresh eggs, top quality ingredients and with absolutely no preservatives.

The bronze-drawing gives the pasta a rough texture, which results in a tasty porous pasta which absorbs the sauces well. Italian machinery, freshness and authenticity in preparation make our pasta different to any you will find on the shelf, making it a must-try this season.”

Summing up, they have something to turn around an ordinary dinner, and if you’re on the lookout for something fresh to try out this week, then this can provide the necessary twist!

You can show off your culinary skills with the mother-daughter duo’s gourmet pastas.

They only use only fresh ingredients and the products are "made to order" with a lead time of 4 working days and delivered to the client’s doorstep packed in ice.(Deliveries to the south will only be made in weekends).

As far as plain, unstuffed pasta like spaghetti, lasagna or Fusilli, is concerned, there is of course dry pasta available in the market. However, these come in standard flavours such as yellow or green pasta.

And yet, MAMA’s pasta has an exciting range of flavours of unfilled pasta, you will hardly stumble on any pasta in the market with chilli, pepper etc. In addition, some of the dry pasta available at the local market are not sourced from Italy. In terms of fillings and herbs, most of the herbs used are sourced from the duo’s own herb garden.

For Ravioli fillings authentic Italian and fresh ingredients are used. Usually in the supermarket 280g – 300g of dry pasta might cost around Rs.280- Rs.300. Hence, a Kilo would approximately cost Rs 1000. MAMA’s gourmet pasta can give you a better price than that!

The pasta can be frozen for 3 months but best if consumed within a month. Freezing temperature for all Pasta products are 18C. You will have to order a minimum quantity is 4 kilos for pasta (2kg is possible with Rs 100 levy) and 2 Kilo (100 pieces) for Ravioli. Delivery charges apply. Favourite International is the supplier of the product. Cooking instructions will be provided. An ongoing seasonal promotion offers the Salmon Ravioli for Rs 3510 per kilo.
