A banker by profession, Bavanthi is a foodie whose passion has always been cooking and baking. She also loves to paint, which she believes has a calming effect on her. B’s Treats is her baking venture!  

Tell us about B's treats? How did it get started?

Cooking and baking have always been my hobby and I get good reviews from the people who taste my food. I started with baking brownies for fun and there was a demand among my friends for the brownies. The positive feedback prompted me to use my culinary skills to enter into the business and thus B’s Treat was born as a family venture.

How do you juggle baking with your job in the corporate sector?

My priority is my job - the two don’t clash since I do all the baking during weekends and after office in the evenings. Baking actually helps me to relax after a hard days work and my family is very supportive.

What is the best thing about baking?

I love the frosting part especially in cakes, cupcakes and even puddings because there I can put my artistic skills into action. Frosting a cake is like meditation since you need to concentrate on what you do and need lot of patience.

Quick dessert recipe?

Caramel Pudding…it’s just a matter of caramelizing the sugar, whisking 4-5 eggs with a tin of condensed milk and water.( I add a tin from the same condensed milk) Add few drops of vanilla. Pour the mixture on top of the caramelized sugar and steam or bake.

Since I make Brownies…Brownies with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce would be the quickest Dessert provided the brownies are baked before hand.

Growing up, what sweetmeats most fascinated you?

Chocolates and more chocolates and ice cream of course. May be it’s my parents who spoilt me with sweets!

There’s a variety of desserts and cakes that you could order.The desserts that are high in demand are my Chocolate biscuit pudding, Brownie Cakes topped with Strawberries and chocolate ganache and the Devils Delight cake..which is a very chocolaty cake, layered with Chocolate ganache.chocolate mousse and topped with Marshmallows.
