Cinnamon Lakeside  welcomes diners of every religious orientation to experience an Iftar Buffet at The Dining Room during the holy month of Ramadan. The Dining Room has introduced a wholesome Iftar menu designed to provide the nourishment needed to conclude the fast every evening.  Chefs have introduced a selection of Middle Eastern dishes for every stage of the meal, beginning with the Iftar snacks, followed by the salads, through to the main course as well as the desserts.

Guests can look to break their fast with luscious dates, plain, chicken or beef “Kanji” or porridge, samosas, freshly cut fruit, fresh juices and faluda, a traditional drink when breaking fasting. The Iftar buffet has a variety of Middle Eastern dishes on offer such as Hummous, Tabbouleh - a fresh Arabic salad seasoned with lemon juice and olive oil, an Arabic Mezze platter and Kabsa Rice - which is infused with flavour from the lamb it is cooked in as well as typically Middle Eastern spices such as saffron and black lime.

Hot items at the buffet encompass a selection of dishes such as Biryani, Chicken Jalfrezi, Butter Chicken Masala, Mutton Rogan Josh, Mutton Marrackh and a Mixed Grill will also be served.  In addition to the regular buffet desserts, the pastry chefs at the Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo have dreamed up a Middle Eastern treat for diners. Umali, a traditional Arabic dessert, contains a delightful combination of puff pastry, dates, nuts and thickened milk, topped with heavy cream. Mahalabiya, a milk based dish sprinkled with nuts, is a hit amongst both children and adults. Two of the desserts will use Atayef, a pancake type pastry, as a base. Filled with either cheese or ground walnuts and cinnamon and topped with a hot sugar syrup or honey, this dessert is heavenly.
